New resource: Preschools guide for Montgomery County, MD

Filed Under: Maryland | Washington, DC

Great new resource for Montgomery County parents: The MCPOM has published a comprehensive preschool guide. A must-have for anyone beginning the preschool search - or looking to swtich schools - in suburban Maryland.

The 80-page guide will be available for purchase starting this Sunday, December 21. It contains detailed info on approx. 250 preschools in Montgomery County, and a few in nearby Washington, DC - including program offerings, affiliation/teaching philosophies, admission priorities and processes, interview requirements, tuition rates, app fees, sibling discounts, and application timeslines.

Schools are listed alphabetically but are also cross-referenced by geographic area and philosophy/affilitation. The guide contains important and helpful information on different types of preschools, steps in the preschool search, questions to ask during visits to preschools, practical advice from parents who have gone through the preschool search and how children can best prepare to enter kindergarten.

Copies of the guide are $10 plus $2.50 postage, and may be purchased with PayPal or a check. They start mailing out to purchasers next Monday, December 22, and will also be distributed on Sunday at a location in Rockville. Proceeds help to fund club services and support to families with multiples in the DC area.

For more information and to purchase your copy of the guide, go to www.mcpom.org. Direct questions to: mcpom-at-mcpom-dotorg or 301.419.8008.

Is there any type of preschool guide like this for DC?
Thanks, Adrian

Not that I know of. Unfortunately. We need some ambitious mama - or a club who needs a good fundraiser - to put one together. It's a huge undertaking, but would be so useful to so many families.
