Something fun in the New Year: Imagination Stage in downtown Bethesda is bringing back performances geared toward preschoolers, with a busy schedule January 21-February 14.

Their StoryTheatre program, which features three artists in four weeks, is a series of 30-minute morning performances for children ages two to four. Tix are just $7, and should be purchased in advance by calling 301.280.1660.

The lineup:

Wednesday-Saturday, January 21-24, Alison Gee in Beatrice Pickles - Pirate, Princess and Mermaid Tales.
Wednesday-Saturday, January 28-31, Diane Macklin, another popular storyteller returning to Imagination Stage with multicultural stories, chants, songs, and movement.
Wednesday-Saturday, February 4-7 and February 11-14, The Shadow Puppet Workshop. Daniel Barash uses the ancient art of shadow puppetry to bring to life stories and folktales from around the world.

The series will make an April/May return with environmentally-themed children's music and African drumming, songs, stories, and games.
