Weekend Watch: Maternity & baby sale in Old Town, Free puppet show & party in Chevy Chase

Filed Under:

First, the savings: The lovely Apple Seed maternity and baby boutique will be at the Alexandria Boutique Warehouse Sale this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the George Washington Masonic Memorial (101 Callahan Dr.) in Old Town, located just up the hill from the King St. metro station. They'll have on hand a wide selection of both maternity and baby (up to 4T) clothing and baby gifts discounted up to 70 percent off. A word to the wise: Last year at this sale they cleared out the inventory by 2 p.m. So go early! There will also be lots of other local merchants and artisans with booths at the sale.

Also this weekend: The historic Avalon Theatre in Chevy Chase (5612 Connecticut Ave. NW) will kick off its legacy campaign this Saturday, with a FREE puppet show presented by Kaydee Puppets at 10:30 a.m. There will also be free popcorn, face painting, gift bags, and local merchant discounts for all who attend - and a 1 p.m. free screening of "Washington's favorite DC film," as voted on by DC residents and Avalon patrons. Turn out to help celebrate the theatre's 85th year in operation!
