A new international school in NoVa?

Filed Under:

Thanks to local mamas Angela Velasquez and Mary Kay Alegre for sharing this announcement: A group of bilingual, multicultural parents is trying to gauge interest in opening an international school in Northern Virginia. And they'd like to hear from any of you who want more info, or to get involved in the planning and development:

Washington, DC has a long history of international schools, including the Washington International School and Rock Creek International School. The newest one, which opened its doors last year, is the Coeus International School (CIS). Northern Virginia does not have an international school, and a growing group of parents would like to change that!

Because our vision closely matches that of Coeus International School, a school with a dual-immersion language program in multiple languages, that uses an internationally recognized curriculum, and implements innovative learning methods with an emphasis on a global education and critical and creative thinking, we recently brought our idea of an international school for Northern Virginia to the head of the school, Dr. J. Daniel Hollinger. He considered the idea with great interest and enthusiasm. Dr. Hollinger founded Rock Creek International School and served as its head for 17 years.

Dr. Hollinger and others from CIS will be guest speakers at an upcoming discussion session, sharing info about their school and letting parents and potential funders know what it will take for CIS NoVa to become a reality.

The public is invited to this exploratory meeting:

@ Patrick Henry Library, 101 Maple Ave. East, Vienna, VA 22180
Saturday, February 24
3 to 4 p.m.
