Working Mothers, Unite!

Filed Under:

Working mamas - and those who are planning toward or toying with the idea of going back to work after a full-time stay-at-home stint: Apparently yesterday's Oprah show was all about us and the bazillion challenges we face. If you were, um, working during the show and missed it, you can watch clips and read more at the website.

Speaking of working parents... Did you see the DC law office of Arnold & Porter featured at #26 in the new FORTUNE "Best Companies to Work For" Guide? Get this: "The Washington, D.C., partnership has a center caring for 44 enrolled children and also provides backup care for employees whose regular arrangements fall through." They rock! We just need lots and lots more of the same, here in Washington and across the country.

In my view, two of the leaders focusing on the work-life challenges of mothers today = MomsRising.org (a nonpartisan but politically active nonprofit) and the excellent Working Mother magazine. I also like the blog - and the lively public discussion board - by Leslie Morgan Steiner for the Washington Post Online: "On Balance."
