Parenting Workshop This Week: "Raising Resilient Children"
Foundations for Families will host an interesting workshop for parents this Wednesday, March 22 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at The Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria.
Here's a description of the workshop, "Raising Resilient Children," from the organizers: The workshop focuses on the characteristics of resilient children and how to help children develop them. Resilient children have strong social skills, good problem solving skills, they are persistent and have a sense of future. The format is casual, interactive and fun. Discussions center around what parents and caregivers can do to ensure that children grow to overcome challenges and lead healthy successful lives. Many families find value in asking their nanny to attend if parents are unable. The workshop content is ideal for any important adult in a child's life.
I'm especially curious about this workshop topic, since our DC Mamas Virtual Book Club is currently reading Raising Resilient Children by Robert Brooks and Sam Goldstein!
Cost to attend the workshop is $20 per person. Registration forms can be found online.
If you can't make it this time, they'll be repeating this program on Friday, April 7 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., again at The Lyceum in Old Town.
Foundations for Families donates a portion of proceeds from their parenting workshops to Children's National Medical Center in DC.
